DnsBrowse/dnsEdit.This programs show the DNS and DHCP records in the NDS in a "flat" list, and
gives you the option to export or print the data. There are two programs
available, DNSBrowse is the free version with all basic viewing options and
only one tree at the time, and the program DNSEdit.exe (licensed) that has all
the functions of DNSBrowse, has some edit-functionality and can show multiple
trees at the time.
For every selected tree the program "needs" to know from which level it should search for the DNS-DHCP locator objects. If there is no entry for a tree in the section [TREES], the program will show the following warning. (normally only the first time you "select" a tree). The program puts two new lines in the DNSBrowse.ini file [TREES] and {MASTER]. You can change the information with the settings option or edit the ini-file. See settings and configuration paragraph.
Then the program will look into the ini-file for the treename in het section [LOCATOR]. If there is no entry there or it is empty, the program will use the context-value of the treename in the section [TREES] and will do a NDS-search for the DNS-DHCP locator object in the given context. If the program cann't find the DNS-DHCP locator object, it will show the option: If you select no, the program will skip the tree, otherwise it will show a
NDS-browse box, where you can select the DNS-DHCP object. The program will save
the locator-object fullname in the ini-file. The next time the program starts,
it will use that value. If the program finds more that one locator object in a
tree, (e.g. after a tree merge) it will show: ![]()
Normally the program will only show the tree-selection page if you are
dnsBrowseted to more than one tree. ToolButtonsAt the top of the screen there is a toolbar with the following options:
