Why do you need CheckEdir?
Sometimes some links in the NDS get lost, because these error’s aren’t really data-base corruption’s, you can not repair them with Dsrepair (Netware/windows) or ndsrepair (linux). One of the most common errors is that a in ConsoleOne / iManager a user object claims to have a Group Membership of a Group but the user isn’t in the Member attribute of that group. If this is the case you can have strange errors like problems with filerights or Application not showing up in the NAL. It’s the responsibility of applications like ConsoleOne / iManager to create both links between the group and user. There are a quite a few of these "double" links in the NDS. This program can check some of these links and let you repair or remove the "faulty" links. The program always uses the master replica(s).

What is userman?

The maintenance of some general user object fields (e.g. Telephone Number) is in many organisations not really a task of the automations personnel. You can release Nwadmin or Console One to the maintainer of those fields, many (edp) managers don’t like this. This program can modify all the attributes found on the Nwadmin general tab of an user object. The maintainer doesn’t need supervisor rights, it does need the NDS-rights to the attributes he/she may modify. If you have NDS 7 or up this can be done with the tool NdsRights.exe (a seperate free downloadable utility for the web-site). If you have nds 6 or below you need to set the access-rights to all user objects that need to be managed. (There is no tool available!).<br>
The program can also change the password of a user and there is an option for editing the Login-script. It is possible to add/delete a picture (jpegPhoto or ldapPhoto) and the program can manage the homeInfo attributes (homePostalAddress, childern, homeEmailAddress).

The program can show multiple trees and search in multiple trees.

NDSbackup is the best affordable backup utility for eDirectory (also 8.8.x) around. The program can also backup trustee file rights.

It is a windows utility that will create an object based backup of the eDirectory objects, object link information and optionally it backups the file rights (it will not backup files).

Backup and restore are two seperate programs.

The program has three major functions:

Home Directories
You can use the program to create new home directories, or use the program for re-creation of the HOME DIRECTORY attribute in the NDS after a migration and so on. The program has a few different user selection options, e.g.: Context, Group or LDIF file and more. You can select if you want to create the NDS home attribute or the HOME DIRECTORY itself (or both), and you can set the directory attributes, trustee rights, volume-space restrictions or directory quotas or ownership for all files in a HOME DIRECTORY (especially useful after a migration).

User
You can create/update/modify/export and lots of other options on users.

Extra Directory
User based directories that are not a homedirectory but based upon some other attribute or just the name. Almost anything that can be done with a homedirectory can be done with an extra directory.

DosNDS is a commandline utility for modifying NDS-attributes, trustee assignments on the filesystem and many many more. There are around predifined 90 commands available. The program has also a (script) language. The language can be used for creating new commands and or command scripts. If you have a license for MassUser, associations of groups you can use those for partial licensing the program. The download is a setup. The most important files are dn.exe (the program) dn.txt (the helpfile, use dn -help for reading the help file), dn.ini (needed for list launcher config) and dn.pdf the manual. Important! Please read chapter 1 of the manual for the basic functions of the program.

GWAudit is a tool that helps:

Managers: to manage mailboxes of (ex-)employees
System managers: change proxy settings and forward mails during vacations without breaking the the users password. Delete email during a virus infection.
Auditors and legal staff: inspect emails confidentially and search of emails.

BrowseNDS is a NDS/eDirectory utility that allows to:

• Browse the tree: and show all visible attributes and its value's. For many attributes there are so called decoders, so the information is in a (more) human readable form. E.g. the zen application objects contain a lot of binary data-streams. This information will be decoded into a more readable form.
• Execute some (simple) queries and export the result to a csv-file
• Show and edit the schema
• Show TimeSync information
• Show Partition informaton
• Some limited edit functionallity on "simple" attribute

The start of the utility dated back to 1998. It is heavily used by myself for the developing of all other tools on this site, and often used for debugging eDirectory problems.

This tools allows you to copy volumespace (also known as userspace) restrictions. The program can use a LDIF file as a selection file for the users you can to copy the volumespace resrtrictions or you can copy all volumespace restrictions. The program can also clear userspace restrictions (all or those in the LDIF file). The LDIF file may contain non User objects and other attributes, both are ignored.

TestUPW is a small utility that shows the status of the different passwords in the eDirectory. The program can also show the Universal Password (depending on the eDirectory settings). This is only an export / check utility, it is not possible to change settings.

This is a LDAP utility, that runs on Windows. No Novell Client needed.

This program is intended for receptionists or secretaries that need to have insight into the Groupwise Agenda indepent of the Groupwise proxy settings. The program uses the “trusted app” option of groupwise, at means that the program can access all mailboxes without knowing the passwords In most companies this in not allowed without explicit authorization of the management!

You can setup your own "filters'. These filtes can be a combination of Domain, Postoffice membership, edirectory group membership, some ldap filter, and there is an option for exclutions. See also manual for more info.

The program van be used:

• Single location, or separate locations where it is not allowed to see agendas at other locations
• Multi location, with a default location for the user. The user can see into agendas at other locations

All queries are done in the eDirectory with LDAP, so the user does not need the Novell Client. Because the program uses a special "search user" the user of the program does not need any special eDirectory rights.

All the information is placed in an ini-file with a checksum option, so the end-user can not change the information. The password for the search user in the ini-file is encrypted.

All the information retreived from Groupwise is done with SOAP, so there is no need for a Groupwise Client on the locale machine. SOAP has to be configured on the different postoffices!.

The package include a config wizard-style program with help for setting.

Allthough this program is a "GroupWise" utility, the license is eDirectory based, so you will find the download under eDirectory tools and also on the license page.

The installation package contains an extra installation setup for the agenda.

A maintainer of the fields in de eDirecotory needs eDirectory-rights. In NDS 7 and up you have inherited rights, so you can set at a higher level the NDS-rights for someone (or organizational role). E.g. if you set at [root] level the modify right for the Telephone Number, than the user or a role-member can set the Telephone Number for all users in the eDirectory. If you want to differentiate the rigths to different persons for diffente parts of the eDirectory, you can set the NDS-rights at a lower (container) level in the NDS.

You can use ConsoleOne or iManager to set these rights, and/or use the iManager roles for this. This is a simple tools that can do the same thing.

Warning the program only adds nds-rights, it can not revoke/delete NDS-rigths. Use Console One or iManager for this.

This tool was developped for UserMan and later extended for a change password utility, for most common attributes you can grant write access rights.

This wizard allows you to create a cfl-file for a csv-input file for Homes or MassUser/UserMagic. The CFL-file describs  the structure of the csv-file and can contain some instructions on how Homes or UserMagic (massuser) should interpret the information in the CSV-file.

The CFL-file is just a simple structured text-file. This wizard allows you to create this file, the creation by hand can be quite complex/difficult.

For GWAudit you need to give the groupwise systemname.

You can get the groupwise systemname in onsoleOne by selecting the 'GroupWise System' in the tree view,then right click and then select 'Information'. In the caption of the screen that follows, the GroupWise system name should be the string after 'Information'. Sometimes this string is not the correct name that GWAudit needs. This tool will give the correct name.

Homes v4 is a complete new version of Homes.exe.

This version is setup as a "wizard", all old set-files are still compatible with this version. This current 4.00.02 version does not support commandline at the moment, itis the first wizard release. This version is also completely UTF8/Unicode compatible, except for the CFL/CSV files, these have to be plain ascii at the moment.

DNSBrowse and DNSEdit will find your locator object or locator objects and show the records in a flat list. There is an easy way for changing the tree. The program can also create a host file, export the data to a CVS file or print an overview of the DNS or DHCP records. In the DNS overview you can find the IP address, name, record type, zone and description. In the DHCP overview you can find the IP address, name, type, MAC-Address, last used, expire date and description. The data can be sorted on any column.

DnsBrowse: There is also a delete option for old DHCP records.
DnsEdit: edit options for DNS and DHCP records

The dns/dhcp information is stored locally, and this info is used at startup. You can switch this function on/off. The program will show a "dot" in front of the dns/dhcp records if the data is read from the local cache and is older than 2 hours. The color of the dot indicates the time the data is cached, there are 6 "levels". You can set the colors in the ini-file.

There programs where develloped for Netware DNS/DHCP. These program will function correctly in a OES environment for DNS (not changed) but the DHCP option will not function.

DNSBrowse is a free tool, DNSEdit a licensed tool.

These tools are usefull for the DNS/DHCP Netware environment, for OES only the DNS part of the tools is relevant.

This is a small and simple program that will scan a directory structure for jpg-files and use the filename for a match in the eDirectory (any string attribute of the (user) object). If it finds a match, then the program will read the file and save the data into the eDirectory. The default attribute jpegPhoto is used, but this can be changed.

The program can also add an Auxiliary class if this is nessessary, in case the picture attribute is not part of the object class.

You can also add/delete a sinple picture by browsing the tree.

The program can set the fullname of user objects based in a given context upon attributes in the eDirectory.

The fullname will be build upon the given command string:
e.g. "%p %g %m %s %q" or "%s %q, %m %p %g"

The program will substitude the %x by:
%g Given Name
%s Surname
%q Generational Qualifier
%m Initial
%p personalTitle.
%% just an %

Any attribute can be left out, the program will remove any trailing and leading space and all dubble spaces.

In the situation where "%p %g %m %s %q" the personalTitle attribute is empty then the program will also remove the space before the %g.

Any other character given in the fullname definition will be stored in the fullname.

This is a very simple commandline utility, it lets you logout from a tree and will kill all connections to servers in that tree.
usage: notree <treename>

Thats all. The program will not issue a warning if the tree doesn't exists or you're not logged-in into the given tree.
The zip-file only contains a exe file, there is no documentation and it is not a setup.

You can add and remove attribute and class definitions into/from the schema.
This version can do the schema modifications through an ini-file or directly like Console One.
Other features:

• - Find all objects using a selected Class or Attribute.
• - Find all classes that use a class as its superclass
• - Find all classes that use an attribute in its definition
• - Export Class-list, Attribute list or a single attribute/class.

This program was develloped in the time iManager didn't have a plugin for Dynamic groups. The current version is less powerfull than iManager, but if you hate iManager it is a good alternative for simple Dynamic Group implementations. If you like this utility, you shouild take also a look at the Static Groiup Utiltiy

Update May 13, 2007.

Ever needed the function of a dynamic group in combination with file rights or zen application objects. This program does "simulates" this by statically updated the memberlist of a group everytime the program is run. The update query is simulatar to the query of a Dynamic group. In the setup there is also an commandline dos version available so you can easily schedule the updates of the groups with any schedule program for windows.

Groups is a simple query tool that allows you to export a user or workstation group. The program tries to find the telephone number for usergroups and for workstationgroups the program tries to find the last user and its telephone number.

It is possible to export to Excel and CSV.

NetStorage, this program allows you to manage StorageLocation objects without iManager.

After selection a StorageLocation object, the program shows the displayname, location URL and the objects that has the location object in their xTier-LocationList. (a eDir search).

The progam allows you to change the displayname and location URL, and most important you can add and remove objects that point to this StorageLocation.

Creation of new Storage Locations is also possible, a delete of a storage location object is not possible.

A new free tool for groupwise.

With gwreport you can export 26 groupwise attributes. The program can be used with any Groupwise version (5.x and up). (some Mailbox Size, Last Client Type and Mailbox Last Access will be skipped and will probably be available in GW8SP2).

The program is not a Trusted App, it will just connect to the Groupwisedatabase.

Requirements: access to one of the domain directories (Netware/Windows/Linux) and the Groupwise windows client.

Yet another purge utility. This purger has some optional extra's.

• Purge files delete before a given date
• Purge files larger that <xx> Kb
• Purge files deleted by <username>
• Keep <xx> number of delete file versions, more is purged.

Program is compatible with OES, it skips the directories ._NETWARE and ._DUPLICATE_FILES

This utility lets you copy a launcher configuration (<=Zen 7.5) from one object to another. Whenyou create a new Organizational Unit, you don't have to set al those boring settings for the NAL.
There is no documantation included.

The login needs 3 parameters to login: tree, user and password. For security reasons the password is encrypted.

There are a few methods to use the program:

HBWlogin
HBWlogin /setup
HBWlogin /t=<treename> /u=<username>

HBWlogin

The program reads the hbwlogin.ini file and uses the entries tree= and user= in the section [LOGIN]. The program searches for the file pass<treename>.hbw. This file contains the password.

HBWlogin /setup

Run this in a dosbox. The program will ask you for the treename, username and password. The password will not hidden on the screen. The program creates the hbwlogin.ini file and the encrypted password file.

HBWlogin /t=<treename> /u=<username>

The program will use the treename and username for the login. For the password the program will use the filename pass<treename>$<username>.hbw. You can use the program pass.exe for the generation of the password file.

HBWlogin /m or HBWlogin /m /t=<tree> /u=<user>

The /m parameter will create a map to a server (the first one that reacts) It will create the following mapping similar to the command map f:=server/sys:\public.

The program returns one of the following error levels.

0 Login successful
1 Login failed
2 Some internal error
You can use these return values in a batch file.
