GWAudit has 3 operation modes, in every mode different things are allowed and/or available. Modes: - Normal mode, this especially usefull for managers who need to distribute old emails to other employees when someone leaves. A manager can only see it's own mailbox and all people he/she manages (and any level below that).
- System mode, can read any mailbox, forward email to other mailboxes and do mail searches. Can also set/reset the proxy assignments!
- Can only read all mailboxes and do mail searches. Can not forward/Delete email.
gwaudit without paramenters will start the program in normal mode. gwaudit /system will start the program in systemmode gwaudt /audit will start the program in audit mode. For the system and audit mode it is nessessay to be a member of the group given during configuration, otherwise the program will issue a warning and stops. At startup GWaudit will ask for the eDirectory password of the current user, this is for security reasons. After that a connection with groupwise must be created. It is not nessessary to login into groupwise before the program is started. Normal mode For normal mode the program will show the mailbox of the current user as the topmost element in the treeview on the left. Click on the + in front of the user, for the other mailboxes the user can look into. The users don't have to be in one domain and/or postoffice. The program uses the "manager" and "directReports" attributes in the eDirectory for the organization structure. For this mode you need to setup this organization structure first, this is not part of GWAudit, you can use Account Management or any other tools for this. The program organo.exe can do this, this program will be released begin 2007. If you haven't configured this at the moment, and you want to do a test, just setup some user accounts. The "green" users do have a groupwise mailbox, the white users do not have a groupwise mailbox.
