NDSbackup is the best affordable backup utility for eDirectory (upto 8.7.x) around. The extended version can also backup trustee file rights.
It is a windows utility that will create an object based backup of the eDirectory objects, object link information and optionally it backups the file rights (it will not backup files).

The interface for the backup program is VERY simple, just the start context for the backup and the export file are needed. These values can also be set in the configuration.
Backup as a windows service The service version of backup uses the same configfile as backup.exe, so it is possible to test the backup configuration and then enable or install the eDirectory backup service. Because it is a window service, it is possible to logout from the windows gui. (soon available in version 3.05.03)
Prices are tree based, so a new servers is NO problem. The prices below are in Euro's, for US$ the price is somewhere between 1.25 and 1.3 times the prices in the pricelist.
A license includes all updates/upgrades in the first year after purchase, renewal allows you to install newer versions for a year.
