Installation MSI
The installation is very simple, just run the Setup.exe in the package.
Default the program dnsBrowse.exe or dnsEdit will be installed in the directory
c:\program files\Hbware\dnsBrowse. The program uses an ini-file for it's
configuration (dnsBrowse.ini). It is possible to install the program in another
directory. If the program is installed on a Netware Volume, then the program
uses the network setup start.
The first time you start the program it will show the message:
"Default [root] as "top" for tree <your tree> set in ini-file."
For DnsBrowsePlus you have to install the license:

To install the license, select the settingsbutton on the toolbar, select the
context for the license and select ok.

The program will try to find the license in the NDS, if it's not installed
the program will look in the installation directory of the program for a
dnsBrowse.lic file. If it's there, the program show the following window:
(the context is the context filled in at the settingspage). Fill in hbware as
the password, and select ok. The program will try to install the (demo) license.
At
startup the program check from what location the program is started. Is the
installation directory a Netware volume, then the program reads the parameter
path from the section [NETWORK] in the dnsBrowse.ini file. The program will use
that path as the directory where it will put a "local" copy of the
dnsBrowse.ini file (if there is no dnsBrowse.ini on that location).
There are two methodes for creating a network installation:
MSI-installation and a copy to the network
Use the simple-setup package.
Start
MSI-setup, and install the program on a Netware Volume.

The simple setup allows you select the directory where to install the
program, the setup will create a dnsBrowse and a libs directory under the give
directory. The directory given doesn't have to exist, the program will create
it. You can also install the license in the tree(s). Program that doesn't need
a license, will not allow you to install the license. The setup will copy all
files, and will overwrite any existing file without asking! If you install more
utilities of Hbware in the same "base" directory, you can skip the installation
of the support files. The first time you have to install the support files,
otherwise the program will not run. If you select a Netware volume as the
installation directory, the program will run in the Network setup mode. This
installation procedure will not create shortcuts and menu options!
[NETWORK] path definition.
The program uses a ini-file for it's configuration, and will read and write to
this file during it activities. In a networksetup this can cause problems in
more than one person is using the program at the same time. To solve this
problem, the program will use a "local" copy of the ini-file. In the ini-file
is a [NETWORK] section, and under that section is a parameter path=. Fill in
the path that is unique for all users of the program. There is a special path
definition: the string %homedir% will be replaced by the users homedirectory.
e.g.
User has homedirectory \\myserver\a_vol\a_dir\myhome.
path in [network] is set to path=%homedir%\hbware (do not add a trailing \
)
The program will place the ini-file in
\\myserver\a_vol\a_dir\myhome\hbware\dnsBrowse.ini
