Ports Firewall - 2008/05/21 09:29 hallo
I have to do the backup over a firewall.
Is it ok to open NCP, or does it need to open some Ports as well?
i get an error, on the end of the backup. somebody to this? " Cannot assign a TBitBtn to a TStringList "

The program just uses the Novell Client, so only NCP should be enough.

The bug at the end (it is a programming error).
Do you use the SMTP option of the backup program, I think there was a problem there with this. Have you tried the latest version of the program?

thanks for the informations

The Error was an effect of the mail config. that is now fixed.

Now i try to backup with our User for the Backup. but this is not the User, which is logged in at this windows Server.
Is there a way to log in with a other user only for the backup?
(the logged in user has not enough rights for the complete tree)

Re:Ports Firewall - 2008/05/23 00:01 Due to the security system in Windows it is not possible to login in windows and netware as an user and in an application as another user (as far as I know). (Run as will only work for the windows environment and not for the Novell environment).

For this I have develloped the service version of the backup.exe. For this you have to create a special windows user, that will always be different than a normal "foreground" user. See also the manual.

If you have any question, please let me know.

Extra info:
At the moment (22 may 2008) there is a bug report for the service version in combination with mail reports.
(the backupjob will stop just after it reads the configuration information). This problem is fixed and in a few days there will be a new release.
Also fixed an other small problem with the service start after the reboot of a server/workstation.
