Option: Skip User Operations on Existing Users - 2007/08/31 20:30 I was using MassUser 3.04.05 very successfully but just recently updated to 3.06.09 and found the program has changed it behavior.

In 3.04.05 When running an import of users with home directories (using the Create needs a csv-file option) when MassUser found that the user had already existed, it would skip all User related tasks, such as applying template values, assigning a password, etc.

In 3.06.09 Under the same conditions, when it comes to an existing user it still runs all of the User operations and attempts to set the template values and assign them a password.

I am using this in a school setting for high school students. In the past it was great. At the beginning of the school year we would run MassUser to import all the student accounts from an exported list from our student database (SASI). We would re-run MassUser again a few weeks later to catch any that we missed or that enrolled since the beginning of the year. Now with the new version of MassUser, when we re-run MassUser using the list of our students, it is resetting everyone's password back to the csv-file value. Where in the old version it would have skipped that step and just moved on to the next new student (not already in the NDS).

Another thing we have to manage are documents signed by parents that allow the student to use the computer in the school. So by default we would tell MassUser to create accounts disabled (so they can be enabled when the signed form comes in). This was fine because when we ran MassUser and the user was already there (and has already be enabled) they would be skipped. But now, every user is getting disabled instead of just the new additions.

Is there anyway to get this functionality back? Can there be an option to skip User operations on existing users?

Thank you so much!!

Re:Option: Skip User Operations on Existing Users - 2007/08/31 23:06 Hello,

Sorry the current behavoir is the one I intended when I wrote the program so I did a "bug" fix.

I will asap implement the option "Create Only New Object" (it is grayed out at the moment on the User General Tab. (maybe I can finish that monday (September 3).

I think this would address the problems.

Re:Option: Skip User Operations on Existing Users - 2007/08/31 23:49 Hallo,

New update is ready. 3.06.12
Also some fixes for CSV and template "clear attribute" options (groups are now correctly updated in all cases)

Re:Option: Skip User Operations on Existing Users - 2007/09/05 16:33 The new option works great!! thank you again!!

I did have one more question...When I launch MassUser it now has a popup that says:

"Application uses trial version of TMS Unicode Component Pack".

Will this cause any problems as we continue to use it?
