Homes+ v2.22 copy attrib error - 2006/11/03 19:00 I am trying to copy a group of home directories from one server to another using Homes+ v2.22. The copy seems to work but I am getting an "error during copy file/set attributes" the user is not getting all the attributes set copied and only has create and filescan on the new user directory. Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong.

Thanks
Andy

Re:Homes+ v2.22 copy attrib error - 2006/11/03 22:15 This is probably a bug somewhere.
I suppose the user doesn't get all the trustee rights on the new directory.

Can you tell me what the version of Netware is on the source and destination server. (and service pack).

Which client version do you use and windows OS?

Will to some testing here, and try to reproduce this error.

Re:Homes+ v2.22 copy attrib error - 2006/11/03 23:15 We have Netware 6.5 sp4 and 4.9 sp2 for the client. I did find a work around for this. During the copy I unselect all of the attributes. After the copy I do a repair home directory and select the attributes I need. Seemed to work for the test group I tried, will do a production run tonight and see how it goes.

Re:Homes+ v2.22 copy attrib error - 2006/11/03 23:22 Thx for the update,

Will try to find out why that works and the "normal" copy not.

Re:Homes+ v2.22 copy attrib error - 2006/11/06 18:36 I copied several hundred users to a new server on Friday. I found the copy worked only after I unchecked "Set trustee rights and directory attributes" also unchecked "Attributes and trustees". Although these were unchecked during the copy the users had full rights to their user directory at the new location after the copy.

When I intially did the copy I had these checked and the users had full rights to there user directory but the inherited rights were messed up and they only could see and delete there files but that was it.

Re:Homes+ v2.22 copy attrib error - 2006/11/06 22:36 Thank you for yor report, I had found the problem with the attributes (they are always copied), will take a look at the trustees too.
Also fixed a potential problem copying the attributes, sometimes the info read from the old location contains "illegal" attribute bits (why??), this can lead to a problem that the Novell Client thinks the new directory is a "link" (junction).
At the moment I'm writing a tool for fixing those wrong directories, and in the new version this can't happen anymore.

As soon as I have fixed this I will let you know and send you the new version (with a new license file)
