Rename username and adjust home directory - 2006/02/23 18:08 Hi,

I would like to be able to rename a username, rename the corresponding home directory on the file system and correct the home_directory link within the user's profile. Is it possible? Does anyone sees a solution?

Many thanks

Oliver

Re:Rename username and adjust home directory - 2006/02/23 21:41 Hi Oliver

Yes this is possible, in the latest versions of MassUser.
On the user tab select the option "rename user". On the new user tab you can select how to set the new name (csv or attribute based) and if you want to rename the homedirs. Even with some extra checks for uniqueness.

Re:Rename username and adjust home directory - 2006/03/01 19:11 Hi Hans,

Doing it using the "rename" within the user tab works great! Now I would like to do it based on a cvs file, giving the fqn or the CN+context and the new CN. Is it possible? I can't select the "Use selection file" in the rename tab...

It's not always clear if an option is not yet implemented or if it's not working because is missing or wrongly set.

Many thanks

Re:Rename username and adjust home directory - 2006/03/01 22:36 The rename user with the csv-file.

First you have to setup a cfl-file where you define the columns for the oldname (userfl and contextfl) (see documentation).

Add the extra tag newname=columnnumber
The column number is column number in the csv-file with the new name. The column must contain the new name (no context!!)

Start MassUser.
Select "File" at the top, then select the filename (same location as a context select).

On the Rename tab you can now select the csv-option.
(it will use the file as a selection and the datasource for the new name).

If you have any question let me know.
