Create Active Directory Accounts - 2004/04/27 11:41 I would be love to be able to have a tool that I can create Active Directory Accounts as easily as my edirectory accounts. Perferably with the same ldif file at the same time. I see the selection for Domain accounts by I assume this is just for older NT accounts.

Active directory accounts. - 2004/04/27 15:09 Yes your right about the NT-account, they are the old domain based accounts. The algoritme I use is not completly save (I learned today), I have to do some modify that routine too.

If you are using Netware 6.5 you can use the dirxml driver for creating/synchronizing Active Directory accounts.

I'm not really familiar with active directory yet.
After the next release of HomesPlus (one to two weeks) I have planned to create an LDAP and possible CIFS compatible Homes version. That vrsion should be able to create Active Directory accounts through LDAP for active directory. It is a lot of work to "rewrite" the program to LDAP so I need some time.

What functions do you want in the Active Directory version of the program?

- the user account
- some form of homedirectory
And ....?????

Active Directory Accounts - 2004/04/28 10:41 The real stumbling block for me has just been creating accounts that have passwords. Microsoft and there top notch security leave it blank on creation for Windows 2000 when using ldifde. It would be handy to automate account creation using just one utility for AD and Edir accounts and be able to use the same data. I have been looking at another utility on the active directory side called AD Infinitum. The dream package would be a combination of these products that was also ldap friendly. The beauty of both of these packages is they are both fairly clean and easy to use.

Update on AD - 2004/04/28 14:05 I have done some studies on the web, and I think it should be possible to create the correct accounts. I don't know if I can set the passwords, I have to look into that. (I have to build a W2000 Server first).
