Homes 3.04.02 not setting space limit? - 2005/06/22 17:54 I seem to be unable to do the space restriction on the user accounts. I've tried it on existing accounts, and by deleting and recreating accounts, and I can't get it to work.

Meanwhile I am able to make per-user changes directly via folder properties with Win 2000 SP4 and Client 4.91 installed. We're all up to date with NW6SP4 and good sync.

AFAIK, changes via Home should be instant, or at least as fast as I am when manually editing each user folder:

Also, it is not mentioned in the Home program, but Windows warns me that the size must be to the nearest 64kb. I don't know if this is a Novell requirement but Homes doesn't tell me that when setting the size.

Re:Homes 3.04.02 not setting space limit? - 2005/06/22 20:46 Hello,

I Think there is a confusion about the restrictions. If you set the "Set Userspace restictions" you set the volume limit value.
AFAIK: The values you see in the explorer are directory limits. IF you want to set those please use "Set Directory Quotas".

You can see the volume space limits in Console one.

The 64Kb isn't a Netware restriction. The documentation of Novell states that the value should be a multiple of 4Kb. The program does round down the value to the nearest 4Kb boundary.

Because the disk block-size on most volumes are 64Kb it is usesfull to set the values also to a multiple of 64Kb otherwise there is the strange situation that a user still has some (very small) space left, but can't write to the volume.
